As soon as I’d finished Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, I thought I’d found the author for me. And after I devoured her entire collection of work during the following weeks, I knew I had. Moriarty’s books are like perfect slices of chocolate cake: rich, fluffy, and damn near impossible not to tear through.
Big Little Lies follows three women – feisty Madeline, beautiful Celeste, and reserved Jane – as their lives tangle together. Madeline’s ex-husband and his new yogi wife have moved to town, encroaching on her territory. Jane seems too withdrawn to be normal and her little boy may or may not be wreaking havoc in his kindergarten class. Celeste is perfect and beautiful, but of course, that’s never the case, is it? And in the middle of it all, there is a dead body.
Moriarty weaves mystery and women’s fiction together seamlessly, mixing laughter and suspense onto every page.
