Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Twenty-six-year-old Louisa Clark is colorful, funny, rather hapless, and in desperate need of work. After a disappointing job search, she is eventually hired by the mother of Will Traynor, a depressed quadriplegic, to be his caretaker. The two get off to a rocky start, but when Louisa learns that Will intends to end his life, she makes it her mission to change his mind.

Me Before You is a kick in the stomach. Jojo Moyes took me for a funny, beautiful, emotional ride and then left me, a puddle of tears, a mass of shaking sobs to be dealt with by my unsuspecting husband. Thanks a lot, Jojo. Sorry, Kyle (aforementioned husband).

And as I write this, Me Before You, the movie, is just waiting to be released in theaters, so I’ll have another two hours of being a sniveling mess to look forward to.

Thanks Alex…such a good read. I flew through this one barely being able to put it down. And sniveling at the kitchen table with the hubby watching the World Series in the living room. Time to wipe my tears and join him. Looking forward to the next read.

Sounds like a familiar scenario, Kelly! I sobbed my way through this one. So glad you liked it! Another book by Moyes I loved is “The Girl You Left Behind” if you’re interested. It’s a fun romance told through two story lines – one set during WWI and one contemporary.
