Whelp, French has done it again. She is back with a story even more compelling and suspenseful than the last.
When ballsy Detective Cassie Maddox arrives at the murder department’s latest crime scene, she is blindsided. On the victim is an ID with the name Alexandra Madison, one of Cassie’s old aliases back when she was in undercover. Oh, and the dead body is the spitting image of the detective. If Cassie is going to solve this case, she must delve back into her old life as an undercover, but there are aspects of her past she’d rather not revisit. And this time she’s impersonating someone who already exists.
If this sounds incredibly farfetched, you’re not alone. I didn’t think there was any way in hell French could pull off a plot as convoluted and complicated as this, but I’ve learned I am in good hands when she is at the wheel. French navigates the plot twists and police procedure with such confidence and authority that the only question you’re left asking is What happens next? And if you’re anything like me, you won’t be able to eat or sleep until you find out.
